Symposium Workshops – April 10 – 13, 2012         San Diego

The purpose of this symposium is to further develop the instructor skills of the California law enforcement instructor. This symposium is open to ALL California law enforcement trainers.

Workshops will be provided in over 20 different areas, with special emphasis on giving the law enforcement trainer skills that they can immediately apply to their role of trainer.  

The hours attended at this symposium count towards the academy instructor re-certification requirement. Completion of all three days will count as 24 CPT hours. An additional 4 hours of CPT will be granted for ICI instructors who attend the ICI portion on Day 1.

Kristina Ripatti has always lived her life with a grit and determination that has allowed her to overcome its obstacles. She has constantly challenged herself to be the best and work the hardest at every goal that she has set for herself. She thrived under the intense competition of collegiate soccer and after graduation she joined the elite and demanding ranks of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Kristina chose to work as a gang unit officer on patrol in infamous South Central Los Angeles. For 11 years she faced the demands of dealing with gangs, violence and drugs, contributing in a way that she thought would have the most impact on public safety. Kristina enjoyed her work and did not realize that she was about to face life’s biggest test yet...

  ALL INSTRUCTORS (ICI see below) The general symposium starts on April 10th at 1:30 pm and runs to 5:30 pm.
Registration begins on the morning of April 10th
On April 11 & 12, the symposium will start at 8:00 am and finish at 5:00 pm.
On April 13th the symposium will run from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon).
For ICI Instructors: There will be a special morning session and lunch on April 10th for ICI Instructors only, starting at 8:00 am. The general session will start on April 10th at 1:00 pm for ALL attendees.  If you are an ICI instructor and will be attending the morning session, you are authorized to travel and lodge the night of April 9th. All general session attendees must travel and begin their lodging on April 10th. POST will not reimburse lodging for attendees that live less than 51 miles from the event site.
For MIDP/MICC Instructors: There will be a special dinner on Thursday April 12th for MIDP/MICC past and present students. The cost for this dinner event is $18 per person.

POST Plan: Special Seminar - Reimbursement for POST reimbursable agencies via Letter of Agreement (LOA) ONLY. There will be no reimbursement via Training Reimbursement Request (TRR).
