The Supervisor’s Academy has been offered by the Regional Training Center since 1985. The Academy is for supervisors at every level (from management to first line supervisor), and for aspiring supervisors. The sessions are designed specifically for local government and for the difficult and complex environment in which their employees work.
The Academy is now five days in duration; the first session is two-days long, followed by three one day sessions once a week. Although some theory is presented, the emphasis is on understanding and skill development. The schedule provides time for presentation of material and an opportunity for practice during class. Because of the separation between training days, participants can apply their learning in the workplace immediately, then deal with on-going situations, success and failures, when they return to the academy.
